SPOTLIGHT COLLECTION by David Rockwell

Acclaimed architect and designer, David Rockwell, has collaborated on a new collection of home furnishing and hospitality fabrics with Jim Thompson, known for its high quality silk textiles, beautiful designs and unrivalled craftsmanship. The Spotlight Collection, which reflects Rockwell’s deep interest in the play of light and his appreciation for natural materials and textures.

Rockwell is the founder of Rockwell Group, an award-winning interdisciplinary design firm with offices in New York and Madrid. Rockwell Group has had a long relationship working with Jim Thompson on customizing Jim Thompson fabrics for their hospitality projects including Hotel Bel- Air, in Los Angeles, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and Nobu restaurants. The collaboration with the artistry and skill of Jim Thompson allowed David to experiment with various weaving techniques and surface treatments to achieve the textural variations and shimmery finishes that create a modern textile collection.

For The Spotlight Collection, Rockwell drew inspiration from a range of past projects, from hospitality and residential to theater and stage. The collection expresses the effect of ever-shifting light on geometric and natural patterns in two color directions – modern metallic surfaces, and rich and playful colors found in nature. Twelve different patterns highlight warm golden bronze mixes with sleek silvery platinum hues. Rich and bold colors such as teal, coral red and purple punctuate the palette, bringing playfulness to the whole collection.
